Seeking God for Direction

There's a song that says, "I'm down here waiting on you Lord, waiting on you Lord, waiting on you, Lord for direction... I can't do nothing until you come.

It's amazing when God is the captain of the ship because all we have to do is trust that He will keep us safe. The songwriter reminds us that God and direction go hand in hand. Without God, I can't do anything. But with God, all things are possible.

What are you seeking from God for this year? What do you want God to do? Do you have goals and plans you want to achieve? Have you consulted Jesus on how and when He wants you to move? Don't leave God out of your decisions.

When we entered into this new year, we all set goals. We envisioned how we want the year to go. I believe this year specifically, we all want more blessing and joy for 2021. Even now, some of us are jotting down our expectations, whether it be a new job, marriage, a stronger walk with Christ, buying a home, excelling in school, whatever we desire; we need God.

The new year always brings a new perspective (especially from this past year), but our foundation should never change. I know God is coming soon, so let's get our lives in order so we are ready when Jesus comes. Let's put ourselves, dreams, aspirations and goals before Him and let Him lead.

Jamie Grace sings, "You lead, I'll follow. Your hands hold my tomorrow.” Can we put that into practice and allow God to lead us? Take time out of your day and seek His face in fasting and prayer. Do you want to see God work? Spend time in prayer with Jesus, asking for His direction.

God’s promises are true and can be attained if we seek Him.

But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” (Matthew 6:33, King James Version)

Jesus didn’t say some things will be added unto, He said ALL these things shall be added to you. Meaning, when we seek God and desire the things of God, then the Lord will pour out all of His blessing upon us. So why would we not seek God for His direction? There are blessings upon blessings that we can attain if we only seek God.

This isn't about New Year's resolutions; this is about asking God for direction. Every Christian needs God's direction and intervention in their lives.
